Food Packaging Migration
FDA Regulations
The USA FDA first started regulating food contact materials in 1958 and since then have developed a very wide-ranging set of regulations covering most classes of food packaging materials including; plastics, paper, adhesives, plastics additives, resinous coatings and many others.
Pira have a great deal of experience with these regulations and can help you to devise and carry out a wide range of tests specified in the FDA regulations (Code of Federal Regulations 21CFR Chapters 170 to 199), as well as auditing formulations against these requirements or to help you register your new material against the Food Contact Notification Program.
Other National Regulations
Pira have also carried out programmes to demonstrate compliance with many other sets of National regulations.
- German BfR recommendations on food contact papers, cardboards, plastics coatings and rubbers.
- French positive list for food plastic colourants.
- Japan
- Canada
- Australia
