European National Dossiers

Where EU harmonised regulations are not yet in force, for example colorants, it may be advantageous to resister a new chemical for use in food contact through an EU National Authority for listing in that country. The principle of mutual recognition can then be applied for EU-wide clearance. In most cases the National Authority will accept migration tests carried out according to the EFSA document ‘Note for Guidance’.
