EC Regulation 1935(2004) requires that food packaging does not transfer a taste or odour to food. In order to identify the chemicals responsible for a taint, specialised equipment and analysts experienced in the causes of food packaging taints are required. The chemical Investigation Team specialises in the investigation of food packaging related taints.
